MONTICELLO, NY — NACL Theatre is developing a professional street theatre ensemble of players to perform short skits and spectacular performances at parades, festivals, events, fairs and gatherings over the coming year. The performances will explore a variety of issues including health, the environment, social justice, diversity, agriculture, education, poverty, gender, history and the many faceted stories from across Sullivan County and Upper Delaware Valley towns and communities.

The weekly trainings will take place every Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert J. Kaisser Middle School cafeteria, at 45 Breakey Ave., starting February 27. Led by Tannis Kowalchuk and the NACL ensemble, street theatre training will focus on all facets of street performance including stilt walking, juggling, music composition, singing, acting, fire spinning, drumming, and script and text development. The ongoing trainings are open to all, ages 13 and up. This is a unique performance-oriented opportunity to get creative and engaged with important contemporary issues in a collaborative and supportive environment.

For more information call Tannis Kowalchuk at 845/557-0694 or email tannis@nacl.org.
