LIBERTY, NY — Liberty Museum & Arts Center, 46 South Main St., invited craft artists from around the region to display their finest work for its current exhibit “Animal, Vegetable, Mineral: The Magic of Craft.” The show will run through Saturday, October 14 with a full-scale craft market and will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

A mushroom rising out of a burl-wood bowl, a monkey surrounded by cryptic words, an angel made of welded horseshoes, exquisite teapots and delicate bowls, award-winning historical dolls and hand-painted tin trays, mysterious miniature boxes with hidden scrolls, elegant glass-topped end-tables, intricate scrimshaw etched into beef bones. This is just a sampling of the work on display. Most of the works are for sale, and at the final mart, the artists will bring in many more of their pieces in time for the holidays.

Coinciding with the craft exhibit is the Sullivan County Art Educators Show in the rear gallery. Paintings and photographs by teachers, active and retired, highlight the talents of educators who usually spend their time encouraging their young protegés in the county’s schools.
