LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — The SUNY Sullivan Theater Program will present performances of “Angels in America: Millenium Approaches” on Thursdays to Sundays from May 3 to May 13. Performances will be held in the Seelig Theater on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Written by Tony Kushner, the award-winning “Angels in America: Millenium Approaches” is directed by Nick Lopez, adjunct professor of theater and speech at SUNY Sullivan. Set in 1980s New York City, when an AIDS diagnosis amounted to a death sentence, the play focuses on a gay man who is abandoned by his lover when he contracts the AIDS virus, and a closeted Mormon lawyer whose marriage to his pill-popping wife stalls. Prior’s diagnosis not only cataclysmically upends his relationship with his partner, but also challenges one and all to embark on a journey of bravery, love, compassion and empathy. Adjunct theater professor Nick Lopez directs a cast of advanced theater students, faculty, and experienced regional performers.
The suggested donation for admission is $10.For more information about the performance, tickets, or for information about accessible seating services, contact nlopez@sunysullivan.edu.
