‘A Visual Odyssey’: presentation and book signing

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — On Sunday, December 3, at 1 p.m.. the public is invited to “Exploring the Shawangunks—A Visual Odyssey” with photographer Nora Scarlett at Morgan Outdoors. From Minnewaska to Sam’s Point and back to Mohonk, with many stops in between, join Scarlett on her visual odyssey through the Shawangunk Mountains in search of the unexpected. Looking for wacky formations, humorous characteristics, improbable location, and surprising shapes, Nora created her “Trunks of the Gunks” series, which was published last year. During the project she became awed at scene after scene displaying how life adapts to adversity and how it succeeds in astonishing ways. And in the recently released book, “Saving the Shawangunks” by Carleton Mabee, she created a portfolio of images to compliment the text.

To reserve a seat, call 845/439-5507. Both books will be available for sale, with a book signing immediately following the presentation.

Morgan Outdoors is located at 46 Main St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For more information visit
