Ice out, ice back

REGION — A brutal cold snap brought thick ice to the lakes and rivers in the Upper Delaware Valley, then a warm spell lead to an early ice out. The ice flowed down the river and jammed up in Bucks County, leading to numerous flood warnings in that area.

Winter weather affects animals too

Winter in our region can be quite unpredictable. Sometimes we experience extremely cold temperatures, as we did this past week; while at other times during our winter months, we can have temperatures in the 50s or 60s. It is extremely important to be aware of the rapid and harsh weather changes, as they affect animals too.

Brutal cold, frozen river

REGION — The old year ended and the new one began with a blast of Arctic air covering the region and much of the eastern part of the country. Another blast of cold air is expected to descend on the region into Friday morning.
