LIBERTY, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Sullivan County will begin an immediate nationwide search to hire a new executive director. The board of directors took the action at a special meeting on February 11, after accepting the resignation, with regrets, of its present executive Greg Sandor. He will be taking a position as head of the Nassau County CCE, which is closer to his home and family. An interim director will be named until the new executive is on board.
Sandor was instrumental in reviving Cooperative Extension in Sullivan County, including restructuring the finances and revamping programs.
The Entrepreneurial and Teaching Kitchen, the greenhouse project and Master Food Preserver classes are all examples of new programs to enhance agricultural development in the county. Eat Smart New York and other nutrition programs were also expanded around the county.
Board president Joan Howard said, “Now we are looking for someone who can provide the stability and continuity to prepare us for the next decade.”
