It’s easy to forget that Ned Lang’s successful entry into politics began because the current town board singled him out for a zoning infraction, attempted to fine him $90,000 for a sign, and tried to charge him with felonies for infractions far less than other examples all over town. He fought back, the town residents respected it and have now elected him twice to the town board. Bravo, Ned Lang—that’s exactly what America is about.
Mr. Lang also fought tooth and nail for more financial transparency from a non-elected group spending town money and brought to light the fact that the supervisor sold a truck to the town. Just because Mr. Lang has been forced to be loud and vocal to counter the entrenched self-dealing of some board members, doesn’t mean he’s wrong. The fact that he has to be so loud actually proves how entrenched the self-dealing is.
As a businessman who has contributed over $15 million in economic development to the Town of Tusten over the last 12 years, I can say without hesitation that his voice is direly needed and is an excellent counter-weight to this board. I’ve never seen a town board use their zoning and codes to punish a political foe like has happened in Tusten, and I applaud the courage of Ned Lang. He’s fighting for the little guy and doing a great job.
