Albert J. Smink, formerly of Hawley, PA and Barryville, NY, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. He was 79.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Norma Hopps, in 1992.
Born in Holland in 1933, he immigrated to the United States when he was 18. He served as an MP in the United States Army.
Prior to retirement, he was employed as bar manager at Paupack Hills Country Club, and formerly as bartender at Tanglwood Ski Area. An active stamp collector and dealer, he also enjoyed boating on Lake Wallenpaupack.
He is survived by daughter Kim Knappenberger and husband Mike of Tafton, PA; son Karl Keller and wife Mary of Hawley, PA; mother-in-law Hazel Hopps of Paupack, PA; grandchildren Casey, Kurt, Neve, Trevor and Sebastian; two great grandchildren; sister Hanneke DeLueew and nephew Arjen DeLueew, both of Holland.
He is preceded in death by a son, Kurt Keller.
Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
