CALLICOON, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) and the Callicoon Theater will present George Clooney in “The Descendants,” opening on Friday, January 27, as part of the CineArt series.
Clooney stars as a Hawaiian land baron steering his two daughters through a tragic time when his wife is on life support after a boating accident. Film critic Claudia Puig of USA Today said Director Alexander Payne (“Citizen Ruth,” “Election,” “Sideways”) “reaches new heights in emotional agility, weaving a multilayered story with perfectly calibrated doses of comedy and tragedy.” “The Descendants” recently picked up two Golden Globe trophies; it is nominated for Best Picture and Clooney as Best Actor in the upcoming Academy Awards.
The film is rated R and will screen nightly at 7:30 p.m. from Friday, January 27 to Tuesday, February 7 with matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Callicoon Theater is located at 30 Upper Main St., Callicoon. Admission costs $9 ($7 admission on Mondays and matinees, $6 for children under 12).
