HONESDALE, PA — At 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, the Wayne County Arts Alliance’s Sunday Night Cinema series closes out the year with a showing of the classic holiday movie “Christmas in Connecticut.” This 1945 comedy, directed by Howard Hawks and starring Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan and Sydney Greenstreet, centers on Elizabeth Lane (Stanwyck), a food writer who has lied in print about her idyllic rural family life and abilities as a gourmet cook. The deception threatens to unravel when circumstances force Lane, who lives in Manhattan, can’t cook and is unmarried, to prepare a fancy Christmas dinner in the country for distinguished company. The movie is 101 minutes long and is not rated.
Sunday Night Cinema showings are at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, 32 Commercial Street in Honesdale. A donation of $5 per person is suggested, to help support the activities of the Arts Alliance. The film is preceded by a short introduction and followed by a discussion. Visit waynecountyartsal
