NARROWSBURG, NY — “Foil Series,” a show of photographs by Dana Duke, will open at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance’s (DVAA) Alliance Gallery on Friday, March 25 with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m.
“I’ve always been seduced by the various surface qualities, reflective properties, and the lines a single, simple object can project,” said Duke. For this series, Duke manipulated disposable everyday objects into sculptural and graphic forms reminiscent of painterly brush strokes or larger sculptural volumes. He then “came up with a lighting to take advantage of the bent and reformed surface texture, thus underscoring their aesthetic appearance,” he said.
Free and open to the public, the exhibit is sponsored by the DVAA, the Arts Council for Sullivan County, and is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.ArtsAllianceSite.org or call 845/252-7576.
