MONTICELLO, NY — According to the Monticello Fire Department, a private airplance crashed on the ground off the Monticello Motor Club early in the morning on May 16.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and found a single-engine aircraft off of the pavement. Three people had been on board but no one was injured. The plane reportedly missed the runway.
The passengers had been helped off the plane by crash and rescue personnel from the Monticello Motor Club before firefighters arrived.
The incident is being investigated by Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies and National Transportation Safety Board. New York State Police were on scene and Mobilemedic EMS responded and interviewed all the occupants of the aircraft.
