Marijuana grow operation busted in Thompson

On Wednesday February 15, 2017 at approximately 9:00 AM, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a residence located at 103 Wildcat Rd. in the Town of Thompson. 

In the basement of the house sheriff's deputies found a marijuana growing operation consisting of approximately 123 plants including plants that had been harvested and were being dried. Over 6 pounds of marijuana was recovered as well as Percocet pills and $6500 in US Currency. Arrested at the location was Steven Adams, age 55.

He is the owner of the house. Mr. Adams was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the second degree, a Felony, Unlawfully Growing Cannabis and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, both Misdemeanors. Adams was arraigned before County Court Judge Michael McGuire and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Sheriff Mike Schiff commended his Gang Intelligence and Narcotics Unit on the investigation and thanked U.S. Homeland Security Investigations for their assistance. The search warrant was prepared by the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.
