Livingston Manor man gets 10 years

Jason Huebsch, 32, of Livingston Manor, N.Y. was sentenced today in Sullivan County Court to 10 years in state prison and 5 years of post-release supervision for a residential home burglary. District Attorney Jim  Farrell said that Huebsch entered a guilty plea and admitted to burglarizing a home in the Town of Liberty in January 2017.  Jewelry and cash were stolen from the home while the owner was not at home.  Huebsch was arrested after an investigation by the New York State Police who recovered a portion of the stolen jewelry.  Huebsch was sentenced as a second felony offender having a prior felony possession of marihuana conviction in 2006.

Farrell said, “This 10 year sentence underscores my commitment to the residents of this county to hold home burglars accountable for their acts.  Our neighbors and friends should not live in fear and if you cause such fear, if you shatter the privacy one expects in their home you will see the inside of a prison cell, you will go to prison and you will be held accountable.”

Farrell said that burglary in Sullivan County is down over 53% since 2013 and credits an aggressive law enforcement approach to the decrease.  “All of the police agencies in Sullivan County are doing everything within their power to apprehend these criminals and my office is aggressively prosecuting these cases to make sure burglars are incapacitated in state prison and cannot victimize someone else.  These measures have driven this crime down dramatically.  The word is certainly out that if you commit a home burglary in Sullivan County and get caught you next home is likely a prison cell.”,  Farrell said.
