Earth Day celebration at PEEC

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will host its 19th annual Earth Day Festival on April 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. PEEC’s Earth Day Festival is an opportunity to learn more about recycling, the environment, and how to make small (and big) changes to reduce your environmental footprint.

Families are invited to stroll around the exhibits, support local businesses, make a craft or two, go on a hike, and play some games. PEEC staff will lead interpretive nature hikes around the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area as well as giving guests the chance to go canoeing on a pond. For a more laid-back experience, several options are available—relax, grab a bite to eat, and listen to music.

Crafts will include decorations made with recycled materials as well as PEEC’s tie-dye station. Bring white cotton shirts, pillowcases, bandanas, or other items to tie-dye. A limited number of T-shirts will be available for purchase at the PEEC store.

PEEC will also feature a summer camp table; stop by and say hello to camp counselors. Families who sign up their campers during the Earth Day Festival will receive $5 off per registration.

For more information, visit www.peec.org or call 570/828-2319.
