PORT JERVIS, NY — A free two-part backyard bird-watching series begins on Thursday, September 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hub at Port Jervis Library, 138 Pike St. The presentation, “The Six S’s of Bird Watching,” will cover the size, shape, surroundings, song, season, and shade or color of birds to facilitate identification.
Part two of the series, “Start Adding Birds to Your Life List,” will convene at 9 a.m. at the Basha Kill boat launch on South Road near Westbrookville, NY on Saturday, September 21 and will follow a path along the Basha Kill that is bordered by wetlands, marshes, stream, fields and woods, ending at 11 a.m. The instructor is Scott Reichert. Sessions are limited to the first 20 people to register. Call 845/ 772-7586.
