WURTSBORO, NY — Become a hands-on Basha Kill Area Association volunteer by training for the Nature Watch Program on Saturday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Mamakating Libray. The Nature Watch Training will help to educate you about bald eagle biology and the Basha Kill ecosystem. You will be able to effectively communicate with visitors to the Basha Kill about the nesting bald eagles, ospreys and other plant and animal residents.

This year’s training includes a special presentation by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Biologist Tom Lake of the Hudson River Estuary Program. Lake will discuss bald eagle habitat and biology, illustrating his talk with photos.

After the training, you’re asked to sign up for three shifts. A shift lasts for three hours and takes place on a Saturday or Sunday from April 20 through June 30. For more details and to register for the training, call Maryallison Farley at 845/888-0261. Visit www.thebashakill.org.
