NPS seeks Watershed Stewards

HAWLEY, PA — The National Park Service, Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River seeks outdoor enthusiasts to donate a few hours of their time as Watershed Stewards. They would work at some of the busiest Upper Delaware River boat launches and access points on weekends from June 3 through September 4. There will be a training session on Friday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Environmental Learning Center located on Lake Wallenpaupack, 126 PPL Dr.

Aquatic invasive species are a growing threat in the Delaware River and beyond. Newly trained watershed stewards will play an important role in stopping the introduction and transport of invasive species by fishing tackle, footwear and boat trailers.

Volunteer efforts will focus on Fridays and Saturdays. All volunteers will be signed up as official National Park Service VIPs and will receive a shirt and ball cap to wear when on duty.

For more information call 570/685-4871, ext. 6605. RSVP for the June 2 training by June 1.
