Joseph F. Mayer

Joseph F. Mayer, 83, of Cochecton, NY a retired dairy farmer and a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. The son of the late Anton and Theresa Amschel Mayer, he was born October 30, 1930 in Cochecton.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, Lake Huntington, NY.

A family statement reads, “Joe was a very hardworking man; he loved working on his family farm. He was very good to all his neighbors; he had lots of friends. He will truly be missed by his family and all of the community.”

Survivors include his niece, Theresa Battiato and her husband Felix; his four great nephews and great nieces, Nicholas, Vincent, Anthony and Francesca.

Joseph is predeceased by his brother Anthony Mayer, his sister Mary Freitas and his nephew Christopher Freitas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, NY. Father William Scully O.F.M. will officiate.

Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.
