Jean H. Krokowski of Barryville, NY and longtime resident of the area, passed away at home with her family by her side on Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was 103 years young.

The daughter of the late Maryan and Marian Kaptejna Kowalski, she was born in Portland, ME on October 13, 1909.

She was the widower of Stephen Krokowski, who passed away in 1967.

Jean was a retired cook for Carle Place School District, Carle Place, NY. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Yulan, NY.

A family statement read, “Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a special lady. She took great pride in her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.”

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Poillon of Baryville, NY; two granddaughters, Kathy Snowberger and her husband Tom of Florida, Barbara Wells and her husband George of Long Island, NY; two great granddaughters, Amanda Wells and Amy Wells.

Jean is predeceased by her husband Stephen, son Stephen Kropowski Jr., her son-in-law Stanley Poillon and her four siblings.

A mass of Christian burial was held Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Yulan, NY. Christian burial followed in Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
