Walter Mantyka of Glen Spey, NY died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Place in Port Jervis, NY. He was 95.

He was born July 1, 1916 in Ukraine, the son of the late Dimitry and the late Kateryna Mazurkevich Mantyka.

Walter married Valentina Biletzka Mantyka 67 years ago on March 21, 1944 in Ukraine.

He was the owner and operator for Walters Market in Woodhaven, NY and later worked at the Ukrainian Federal Credit Union in New York City as a loan officer.

Walter was a member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Glen Spey, and served as past president and past treasurer.

Surviving are his wife at home; daughters Sonya Hansen of Quincy, MA and Lydia Falco and husband Vincent of Dunstable, MA; grandchildren Kristy Rueda, Paul Hansen, Laura Hansen, Teresa Falco and Kathryn Falco; and nieces and nephews, especially his niece Svetlana, Ukraine.

He is predeceased by sister-in-law Halina; three brothers; and one sister.

A Panachyda service was held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home. A liturgy mass was held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at St. Peter And Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Glen Spey.

Burial was at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, So. Bound Brook, NJ.
