Alice Foxman Townsend, of Kauneonga Lake, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2011 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. She was 85.

The daughter of the late Harry and Pauline Barr Foxman, she was born on October 13, 1926 in Bronx, NY.

Quick to laugh, she was loved by all who knew her. A retired billing representative at Catskill Regional Medical Center, she donated time to different organizations. She was a member of the Town of Bethel Senior Citizens Group, Town of Bethel Bethelites and the local Red Hat Society. Formerly, she was a member of Monticello Home Extension and Assistant Troop Leader for Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council.

Survivors include daughters Nancy Rosenbaum Butler and husband Don of Granby, CT and Patrice Townsend Steigler and husband Patrick of Kingston, NY; grandchildren Mollie Butler, Austin Butler, Emma Townsend-Steigler, Ethan Butler, Nathan Townsend-Steigler and James Townsend-Steigler; three nephews; and several cousins.

Her husband, Harrison Townsend Jr., predeceased her.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 16 at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake. Burial of ashes at Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY followed.

Donations may be made to Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
