Anthony “Tony” Richard Girardi of Eldred, NY, a 32 year resident of the area, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 94.

The son of the late Daniel and Bridget Girardi, he was born in Manhattan on June 19, 1917, the youngest and last of seven siblings.

Anthony served as a corporal in the army in WWII and was a disabled veteran.

Anthony was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan, NY. He was a a former member of The Shrine Church of Saint Anthony of Padua Church, NYC, having lived next to the church. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, a retired employee of Ike-Stan Service Corp. and a member of the Teamsters Union in NYC.

A family statement reads: “Anthony was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. His granddaughter and great-grandsons were the light of his life. He will greatly be missed and will always be in our hearts.”

He is survived by his son Richard Girardi and wife JoAnne of Eldred; granddaughter Amy Girardi Stevens and husband Scott of Orange County, NY; great-grandsons Christopher Richard Stevens and Colin Daniel Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.

Anthony is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Martha Harriet Galardi Girardi, who had passed away on July 29, 2008; brother Frank Girardi; and sisters Lillian Girardi, Minnie Girardi, Ann Girardi, Faye Girardi, Mary Mancini and Lucy Bartucci.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 10:30 a.m. at The Shrine Church of St. Anthony’s of Padua 155 Sullivan St., New York, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held Friday, November 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan , NY. Father Thomas Jones O.F.M. will officiate.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery in Eldred.
