Elizabeth A. Moore, age 67, of Mohawk, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, August 23, 2011, in Mohawk Valley Health Center, Ilion, NY, after a long illness. She was born January 10, 1944 in Monticello, a daughter of the late Willard and Elizabeth Schoonmaker Schadt.

Elizabeth was raised in Jeffersonville, and was a graduate of Jeffersonville High School. She furthered her education, graduating from SUNY Albany, where she received her bachelor’s degree and went on to SUNY New Paltz, where she earned her master’s degree in education. For many years Mrs. Moore taught school. She was the curriculum coordinator and an adult-student teacher for the Sullivan County BOCES program; from 1989 to 1993 she taught elementary school in the Jeffersonville-Youngsville School District, and from 1993 until her retirement in 2000, she served as a principal at the Monticello Central School District. In March of 1970, she was united in marriage with Richard Moore in Liberty. For many years they made their home at Kauneonga Lake before moving to Mohawk.

In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and caring for her two black Labrador retrievers. Mrs. Moore will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. She was always willing to give of herself to others while looking for nothing in return. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her loving family.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 41 years, Richard; a brother, Robert Schadt and his wife, Martha of Ashland, MA; a niece, Emily Schadt, and a nephew, Andrew Schadt.

At Mrs. Moore’s request, funeral service and interment services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements by Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer, NY; 315/866-4590.
