David E. Gochenour, a lifelong resident of Sparrowbush, NY and Mohican Lake in Sullivan County, NY, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011. He was 62.

He was born June 6, 1949 in Port Jervis, NY to Walter and Inez Clark Gochenour.

He was a decorated Vietnam veteran, and a past chief and past commissioner of the Sparrowbush Fire Dept. He was a member of the VFW in Eldred, NY and president of The Mohican Lake Rod and Gun Club. A family statement reads: “He will be sorely missed by all of the lives he touched. He loved his grandchildren more than anything. We will miss you, Pop! We will always carry your memories in our hearts.”

He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky); son David and wife Trinity of Glen Spey, NY; daughter Lynn at home; granddaughters Marissa and Hailey; sister-in-law Karen Chromy of Latham, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services are to be held by family. Memorial contributions may be to a charity of one’s choice.
