Michael G. Longhenry of Lords Valley, PA died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Northeast Pennsylvania Hospice, Scranton, PA. He was 37.

He is survived by his wife, Tamara Johnston Longhenry, of Ontario, Canada.

Born November 21, 1973, in Port Jervis, NY, he was the son of John E. and Lorraine J. (Hatton) Longhenry of Lords Valley. He was a 1992 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, where he was the 1992 WAHS Power Mechanics VICA Award recipient.

He worked as yardman for Narrowsburg Lumber and had also worked for Kmart Automotive and Snyder’s Tire and Auto.

He had served as assistant chief of Blooming Grove Fire Dept., as well as its foreman and engineer.

He loved spending time with his children and his black lab, Toby. He also enjoyed cooking and playing sports.

He is also survived by children Brianna and Brandon, both of Ontario; sister Tern of Lords Valley; brothers Shawn and wife Jennifer of Lords Valley and Ronald Smith of Kresgeville, PA; maternal grandmother Beatrice Hatton of Lords Valley; niece Taylor and nephews Johnathan and Gavin Longhenry.

He is preceded in death by a brother, John in 2000; maternal grandfather George Hatton; paternal grandparents Marion and Elmer Longhenry; and an aunt, Joyce Schaffer.

The funeral was on Wednesday, May 18 at Teeters’ East Chapel, Hawley, PA with Rev Douglas Rhine officiating. Burial was in Lords Valley Cemetery.
