Ernst Jurgen Spengler of Smallwood, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his home while sleeping next to his faithful and loving dog, Patrick. He was 74.

Ernie was born in Berlin, Germany on August 19, 1936. He was a direct descendant of the famous philosopher and mathematician Oswald Spengler. Ernie was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country from 1957 to 1960. Ernie was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Military funeral services were held at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m.
