Robert L. Milani, a retired U.S. Federal Marshal and a longtime resident of the area, passed away at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA on Friday, April 22, 2011. He was 83.

He was born in Bronx, NY on August 13, 1927 to the late Ercole and Rose Milani..

Robert was a WWII and Korean Conflict veteran. He served in the U.S. Marines, and he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a New York City police officer and a NY State police trooper before becoming a U.S. Marshal. He was a U.S. Marshal for 30 years before retiring. He was the widower of Josephine Fornari Milani, who passed away on November 30, 1988. They were married for 33 years.

Robert was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, NY. He was a member of the VFW. He was a member of the NYS Retired State Troopers Association. He was a member of Tusten Seniors and helped with Meals on Wheels.

A family statement reads: “Robert was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had such a great sense of humor and a great outlook on life. We will greatly miss him and he will always be in our hearts.”

Robert is survived by a son, Michael Milani of Warsaw, NY; two daughters, Roseann D’Alessandro and her husband Benny of Brooklyn, NY and Lorraine O’Neill and her husband Jimmy of Westchester, NY; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday April 28, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg. Rev. William Scully O.F.M. will officiate.

Christian burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
