Lang wins Tusten primary

According to unofficial results from the Tusten Republican Primary held on September 13, businessman Ned Lang has won with 85 votes, while town clerk Kathy Michell garnered 53 votes.

Lang has been critical of town programs and actions, specifically the planned esplanade above the Upper Delaware River and behind some of the shops on Main Street.

The Tusten Democratic Caucus will be held at the Lava Firehouse on NYS Route 52 on Monday, September 17, at 7 p.m. The Democratic candidate for the town board seat currently held by Andrea Reynosa will be selected.

There has been speculation that some of the Democrats will cross party lines and nominate Lang to be the Democratic candidate.

However, Patrick Harrison, chairman of the Tusten Democratic Committee, said he and the other members of the committee are hoping that a Democrat will take the nomination and are they not looking to nominate someone from outside the party. He said there were at least three Democrats with possible interest in the nomination, and those are Reynosa, Bernie Loehman and Chuck Hoffman.

If you are a registered Democrat in the Town of Tusten, you must be present to participate. No absentee votes are allowed.
