Register for children’s theatre classes

March 1, 2012

HIGHLAND LAKE, NY — Registration is now open for children’s theatre classes at NACL. The classes will be held on Thursdays from April 19 to June 7.

NACL theatre classes are designed to engage young people in the creative process of play-making. The classes emphasize imagination, collaboration and physical expression, explored through the invention of original stories and plays. Each class begins with fun and challenging theatre exercises that develop physical, vocal and concentration skills. Children work together to develop scenes, stories and small performances which they present to each other and the teacher for feedback. Costumes, props and set design are also explored in the realization of the invented dramas.

Level 1, for grades one through three, will be held on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and will be taught by Tannis Kowalchuk. Level 2 classes, for grades four through seven, will be held on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., taught by Tannis Kowalchuk and Brett Keyser. The class fee is $95. Register at tannis@nacl.org or 845/557-0694. Visit www.nacl.org.
