William “Uncle B” Mullen, a lifelong Liberty resident, passed away at his residence after a long illness on Sunday December 11, 2011. He was 80.

The son of the late Phillip and Margaret Fletcher Mullen, he was born on September 13, 1931 in Liberty, NY.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Town of Liberty Highway Dept. and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Liberty. He belonged to Cranberry Pond Hunting Club and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a 50-year member of JC Young Hose Co. #1, Liberty Fire Dept. and a member of the Neversink-Roundout Antique Machinery Assn.

He is survived by sons Todd Mullen and his fiancée Melanie Karkkainen of Cochecton, NY and Michael Mullen and wife Patty of Liberty; daughter Margaret Eisenberg and husband, Steve of Fort Myers, FL; brother Phillip Mullen and wife, Betty of Liberty; grandchildren Patrick Mullen, Jacqueline Mullen, Devin Mullen and Ian Mullen; step-grandchildren Austin, Kyle and Kaitlin Polomcean; and one great-granddaughter; lifelong friend Elinor Wells of Parksville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife Jacqueline; brother Robert Mullen; and sister, Patricia Smith.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 15 at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 16 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 264 S. Main St., Liberty. Monsignor Edward Straub will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY following the mass.
