Roland G. Weiss of Kauneonga Lake, NY passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 84.

He was born on October 12, 1927 in Kauneonga Lake, the son of the late William J. and Margaret E. Stewart Weiss.

Rollie was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Bethel Highway Department. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Kauneonga Lake; a 64-year member of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Dept. and former fire commissioner and a member of Sgt. Andrew C. Brucher VFW Post #5499. He also served his country from 1945 to 1947 as a U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Madelyn Horton Weiss at home; son Ronald K. Weiss and companion Ruth Dicks of Kauneonga Lake; daughters Terri Weiss and companion Gus Bertram of Smallwood, NY and Donna Davis and husband James of Livingston Manor, NY; brother Marvin R. Weiss of White Lake, NY; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a brother, Norman Weiss.

Funeral services were held at Ramsay’s Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29. The Kaunenonga Lake Fire Dept. and the VFW held services there on October 28.

Burial with Military Honors took place at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty, NY.
