‘Patriots’ Weekend’

NARROWSBURG, NY — To celebrate the final weekend of its 2011 season, Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History will hold a “Patriots’ Weekend.” It will include presentations by historian Peter Osborne on the Battle of Minisink on Saturday, September 24 at 2 p.m. and a presentation on genealogy by Gloria McCullough and Ann O’Hara of the Wayne County Historical Society on Sunday, September 25, at 2 p.m. There will be costumed interpretations of the lifestyles of the first European settlers in the Upper Delaware River Valley, including candle making, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving and woodworking. Members of area chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution will share stories of their own patriots’ histories, as well as information on becoming a DAR member.

Fort Delaware hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission costs $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children five to 14. Call 845/252-6660.
