Comments policy changing on The River Reporter website
September 9, 2011 —
Starting on September 16, The River Reporter online will accept only comments that are submitted under the user’s real name. If you have already registered under a pseudonym and would like to change your user name, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the words “real name” in the subject field and your current user name in the body of the email. Your account will be deleted and you may then reregister using your real name.
Comments submitted under a pseudonym will be removed after September 15, and email accounts of the anonymous users who post comments will be blocked.
We are making this change as part of a general attempt to increase the level of civility in the comments sections, and increase the number of people who are willing to engage in conversation about the articles posted and the issues they raise.
We remind users that their comments should be directed at the substance of others’ comments, not at their morals, intelligence, motives or personality. We reserve the right to remove any post that violates this principle, or that we deem offensive.
Thank you for bearing with us during this transition.
