Jeff Fest’s duck race approaches

September 1, 2011

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — This year’s Jeff Fest, with its centerpiece duck race, will be held on Saturday, September 17. The duck race will occur at 1 p.m., with a total of 1,500 ducks swimming. The first-place duck will win $300, second place $200, and third place $100. A total of 17 merchant “Pokey Duck” gift certificates will be won by the slowest last place 17 ducks.

All donations will go towards the Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan (JEMS) volunteers (non-profit group) for beautification and improvements in Jeffersonville. Volunteers for ticket sellers, youth duck herders and volunteers to dump the ducks are needed, as are pretzel jugs for ticket sellers.

All duck herders will receive a tee shirt with the Jems name and an ice cream treat at Just Desserts after the race, and are encouraged to bring dry clothing with them. Email Jack Costello
