Riverfest: art, music, ecology—and a cat that wins a dog contest

July 28, 2011

NARROWSBURG, NY — Stacy and Friends entertain the crowds at this year’s RiverFest, prior to the commencement of the festival’s centerpiece event, the poster auction. This year, the auction yielded revenues of $9,820 from the 59 posters that had been created and donated by local artists. The poster that attracted the liveliest bidding was “A River Grimoire,” a watercolor by Beau Gostomsky that sold for $520.

The weather obliged with a morning overcast that gave festival goers a break from the battering heat of the prior few days, as the event kicked off with Riverdogs on Parade—which included a surprise feline winner in one of the categories (see page 2). As always, stilt-walkers, artisans, food vendors and musicians kept the street lively throughout the celebration, which honors art, music and ecology on the Delaware River.
