‘Art on the Edge’ draws crowd to Hawley
July 7, 2011 —
HAWLEY, PA — Last weekend marked the inauguration of a new 5,000-foot space on the first floor of the Hawley Silk Mill in Hawley. The space hosted a large art exhibit sponsored by the Wayne County Arts Alliance and curated by Rocky Pinciotti, curator of the Alliance Gallery in Narrowsburg, NY.
“Art on the Edge” features 60 area artists in mediums including sculpture, photography, paintings and mixed media works. The exhibit drew a large crowd during its Saturday evening opening. “Curating an art exhibition is always a labor of love,” said Pinciotti. “As a fellow artist, I have a deep appreciation for true artistic vision and the creative process. Image and object making is a pursuit not shared by everyone. But for an artist, it is quite often an integral part of their very being.”
In addition to the exhibit, Art on the Edge will feature a weekend series of special events to include the “Creative Cocktail Hour” and special performances from French Woods Performing Arts camp based in Hancock, NY. For more information on the featured events, visit the Silk Mill’s Facebook page.
The show runs through September 10 daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit hawleysilkmill.com.
