Thomas E. “Woody” Wood

Thomas E. “Woody” Wood of Beach Lake, PA and formerly of Kearny, NJ, a retired foreman in Laborers Local 472, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at home surrounded by his family after a relentless fight with a long-term illness. He was 60.

The son of the late Joseph William Wood and Florence Ackerson Wood, he was born October 13, 1950, in Newark, NJ.

Thomas was a member St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg, NY. He was a member of the Narrowsburg Volunteer Fire Dept. He was married to Cheryl Smock Wood for 27 years. Their 28th wedding anniversary would have been on Saturday, May 7, 2011.

Survivors include his wife Cheryl, five children: Tammy Wood, Joseph Wood, Thomas Wood, Kevin Wood and Anthony Wood; five grandchildren; his mother, Florence Wood; seven siblings, Evelyn McLaughlin, Joseph Wood, Richard Wood, Jack Wood, Ruth Ann Danelski, Frank Wood and Deborah Tretola; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A funeral service was held on May 8, 2011 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg, NY. Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiated. Cremation followed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
