Heroin arrest in Liberty

On Sunday 02/23/14 the Village of Liberty Police arrested Gerardo Blanco, 25 and Melissa Santana 25, both of Liberty, NY after an investigation into drug sales from a hotel room. Liberty police officers had been investigating suspicious behavior at a local hotel in Liberty.
At approximately 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon officers executed a search warrant at the hotel room and seized over one half ounce of unpackaged heroin, over 50 individual bags of heroin packaged for sale, prescription endocet pills, marijuana, approximately 1,000 empty unused baggies and glassine envelopes used as packaging material, digital scales and over $900.00. The estimated street value of the heroin seized is approximately $9,100 dollars.
Blanco was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, and tampering with physical evidence, felonies, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, 2 counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marihuana a violation. Santana was charged with loitering in the 1st degree and attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree both misdemeanors.
Santana was released on an appearance ticket to appear at a later date in Town of Liberty Court and Blanco was arraignined in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.
