Monticello man arrested for felony assault

Monticello Police arrested Sean York (39) of Monticello on Sunday 9/1/13. York was charged with felonies for assault in the 2nd degree and criminal contempt in the 1st degree.
York was arrested following an investigation into the assault upon a 31 year-old Monticello woman. The victim who has an active order of protection against York had just returned to her residence on Roosevelt place at approximately 11:15 PM on Friday 8/30/13 when she was assaulted by York, who had been waiting outside the victim’s residence when she had returned.
York assaulted the victim by picking her up and slamming her down to the ground. York then fled the scene. Responding officers found the victim lying in the middle of the street semi-conscious with a large contusion on her head.
The victim was transported to CRMC by Mobile Medic ambulance. The victim was treated for a concussion and multiple lacerations at CRMC. Monticello Police arrested York on Sunday at 10:30 PM when officers observed him walking on Broadway.
York was arraigned before acting village of Monticello justice Martin Miller and remanded to the Sullivan county jail without bail pending further court action.
