Station manager resigns at WJFF

April 11, 2013

The WJFF Board of Trustees, meeting on Wednesday, April 10—first in executive session and then in open public session—accepted the resignation of radio station manager Winston Clark, and on Thursday morning, Clark submitted his resignation to Dawn Dorcas, board president.

Clark’s letter reads:

“Dear Dawn,

I resign my position as WJFF Station Manager as of 5 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013.

We can all be very proud of what we have achieved together in my four years at WJFF. WJFF's facilities and equipment have seen major repairs and upgrades, and we have broadened our community outreach, volunteer base and broadcast potential with the opening of a new studio in Honesdale.

Furthermore, WJFF is in the strongest financial position it has ever been, totally ready to face any challenge or opportunity the future may bring.

I want to thank you, and Steve Van Benschoten before you, for your inspiring and vibrant leadership, and WJFF's Board of Trustees for its vision and commitment to the welfare of the station.

I also want to pay special tribute to WJFF's remarkable volunteers for their continuing devotion, artistry, and hard work.

I am confident that WJFF's best days lie ahead.

Winston Clark”

In addition, the following statement was released on behalf of the WJFF board. “The board has accepted Winston Clark’s resignation and would like to thank him for four years of service. The board would like to express its deep appreciation for the work that he did, and we wish him well.”

Controversy over recent programming decisions and about Clark’s leadership boiled over in a standing-room-only board meeting on March 20 as members of the public spoke about the need for a change. Among those calling for Clark’s resignation was Anne Larsen, one of the founders of WJFF.

According to volunteers at the station, assistant station manager Adam Weinreich is to be named interim station manager.

The board’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 17.
