Penn State Public Safety Webinar - March 17
An online seminar titled "Natural Gas Well Development and Emergency Response and Management," will be offered by Penn State Extension at 1 p.m. on March 17 to address public safety concerns related to natural gas drilling. Craig Konkle, operations and training supervisor for the Lycoming County Department of Public Safety and chairman of the county's Gas Task Force Safety Committee, will discuss the precautions his county has taken. The webinar will cover the creation of a county task force and safety subcommittee, as well as the development of a training and safety consortium comprised of representatives from the gas industry and emergency responders. It will also address training for responders, helping responders and industry personnel remain safe in the field and past incidents. Second man nabbed for burglary of NWPOA director’s home
Wayne County state police have arrested a second man in connection with a burglary that occurred on July 22-23, 2010 at the home of Marian and Edward Schweighofer of Damascus Township, PA. Marian is executive director of the Northern Wayne Property Owners Alliance. Lee Harrison, 46, of Equinunk, PA was arrested for his alleged participation in the burglary. Police arrested James Singer, 30, of Binghamton, NY back in November for his alleged involvement. The investigation is ongoing.

Former PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary John Hanger has launched a new blog discussing issues related to energy, the environment, the economy and politics.
