Leona Gilmore Minogue

Leona Gilmore Minogue of Highland Lake, NY and formerly of Peekskill, NY, died on March 24, 2013. She was 87 years old.

Leona was born May 27, 1925 in Holyoke, MA to Simeon and Dora Blanchette.

Leona will be kindly remembered for her beautiful smile and playful wit.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Yulan, NY.

She worked for many years as a librarian at the Montrose Library and after moving to Highland Lake served as librarian at the Sunshine Hall Free Library in Eldred, NY. Leona also served as the Recording Secretary for the Lake DeVenoge Property Owners Association.

She is survived by her children Nancy Gilmore of Farmington Hills, MI; Barbara Davis of Rochester NY; James F. (Cheryl) Gilmore Jr. of Buchanan, NY; Terence S.(Cheryl) Gilmore of Cortlandt Manor, NY; and MaryLou (Alan) Hall of Long Beach, CA; grandchildren, Christine (Jeff) Burkey Kelly of Hilton, NY; Keia Burkey of Rochester, NY; Megan Myers of New York, NY; Daniel and Michael Hall of Long Beach, CA; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Bennett; William O’Donnell and Reece Kelly.

She is predeceased by her son Michael Gilmore, her brother Laurent Blanchette, and husbands, James F. Gilmore Sr. and Edward Minogue.

Reposing will be on Friday, March 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cortlandt Funeral Home in Verplanck, NY. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
