“Symmetries,” paintings and drawings at Alliance Gallery

NARROWSBURG, NY — “Symmetries,” an exhibit of paintings and drawings by Ellen Cibula, opens with a reception on Saturday, March 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Delaware Arts Center’s Alliance Gallery. The exhibit will run through April 13. In “Symmetries,” most of the artist’s paintings and drawings are shown in pairs, with the two parts forming a dance.

Cibula got her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in painting from the Art Institute of Chicago, after which she moved to New York City, where her paintings were first shown at Leo Castelli. Her work has been featured in museum shows such as The Structure of Color at the Whitney, Pattern at PS 1 and The Grid at the Philadelphia Museum of Contemporary Art. She now lives and works in Milanville, PA and New York City.
