Honesdale approves CVS traffic pattern

December 26, 2012

The Honesdale Borough Council has approved the original traffic pattern plan proposed by CVS engineers. A motion to reject the pattern by council member Harry DeVrieze failed by a 4 to 3 vote. Juanita Pisano and Bob Jennings voted yes with DeVrieze to reject the plan with F.J. Monaghan, James Brennan, Michael Slish and Scott Smith voting no.

“I think there should be a better traffic pattern,” DeVrieze said.

At the intersection of Fourth and Main streets directly in front of the proposed CVS building, which was formerly used by the DSFI Company, there will be three lanes: one for a left turn going east on Fourth, a second lane for traffic going directly into the CVS building and a third for a right turn going west on Fourth Street.

There was a discussion that the right turn lane was not wide enough to safely allow for large trucks.

“This discussion was much ado about nothing,” said Tom Shepstone, who represented CVS. “We already have the approval of PennDOT.”

“Still, the company was happy they got the council’s approval, so it wasn’t much ado about nothing,” DeVrieze said.
