MONTICELLO, NY — Adam Mones, 33, of Kenoza Lake, was sentenced on June 1 in Sullivan County Court to six-and-a-half years in state prison for a residential burglary. Sullivan County District Attorney Jim Farrell said Mones admitted to burglarizing a home in the Town of Delaware located on State Route 52 in the early morning hours of October 27, 2011. Farrell said that Mones stole a number of rifles and shotguns from the residence.

He was arrested after an investigation by the Sullivan County Sheriff and the Sullivan County Probation Department on November 2, 2011. Police recovered nearly all of the stolen rifles and shotguns from Mones’ residence in Kenoza Lake. Farrell said Mones was on probation for a May 2011 felony possession of stolen property charge at the time of the burglary. “The sheriff’s office, acting jointly with our probation department, acted quickly on this residential burglary and recovered these guns before they could be disposed of, sold or illegally used. We will continue to vigorously pursue these individuals who destroy the sanctity of our homes, and make sure that when they are apprehended, they are removed from our community,” Farrell said.
