DAMASCUS TWP, PA — A 30-year old Damascus Township man was arrested after his wife tried to get emergency protection from him on November 1. Police obtained a search warrant for the home of Leroy Catania of Callicoon Road after being contacted by Billy Jo Wormuth, who told police that Catania had a pot-growing operation in the attic, and possessed multiple guns, which he was legally prohibited from owning.

Police found the growing operation and guns in the home, and they also found a large safe. Catania said he had recently purchased the safe at an auction in Honesdale and did not know the combination and suggested that he also did not know what might be in the safe.

The Honesdale fire company was summoned to crack the safe. Once it was opened, police found a stash of marijuana, prescription drugs, drug packaging supplies and several cell phones.

Catania was arrested and incarcerated in the Wayne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail and has a November 11 appearance in court scheduled.
