Walter to challenge Democratic candidate for legislator

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — Kenneth Walter, a government watchdog well known at meetings of the Sullivan County Legislature and Sullivan County Community College announced on June 8 that he is seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 3rd District legislative seat that encompasses Neversink, Rockland and the Parksville area of Liberty. Walter has the endorsement of the area’s Working Families Party and will be on the November 3 general election ballot.

“Quite simply, our government and our representatives must work better, smarter and more efficiently for the greater good of all of Sullivan County,” declared Walter.

“For a great many years, I have stood unofficial guard on government’s wall and monitored the goings on, for better or worse, in our county legislature and other areas of local government. After attending literally hundreds of government meetings, hearings and sessions I know that I can be more effective actually sitting at the table where the decisions that affect all of us are being made.”

Walter will run against Mark McCarthy, currently the supervisor of the Town of Neversink, who was endorsed by the Sullivan County Democratic Committee. Kitty Vetter will run on the Republican line in the general election.
