Statement from Narrowsburg school real estate agent

MONTICELLO, NY — Real Estate broker Ellie Hyde of Century 21 Country Realty has read news accounts in recent days that say she represents Joan Buto in the sale of the Narrowsburg School, and wants to set the record straight.

She said in a phone call, “I represent the Sullivan West Central School District (SWCSD). My fiduciary duty is to the Sullivan West Central School District, who is my client. There are many times in real estate when a buyer will call the listing agency directly. They sign a New York State Agency disclosure, which Joan Buto did—actually twice—at our first contact with her, acknowledging that our agency works for the SWCSD. All disclosures were made, and Joan Buto was and is aware of that fact. We work with SWCSD, and it is my job to try to get her to a closing table and assist her if I can.”

“Never did I break my fiduciary duty to the SWCSD of care and diligence, confidentiality, loyalty, obedience, accountability, or disclosure to my client SWCSD.”
