LORDS VALLEY, PA — The Blooming Grove Township supervisors held their annual reorganizational meeting on January 6. Randy Schmalzle was unanimously re-appointed president and Nicholas Mazza vice president. Helen Yale is the third supervisor.
The supervisors’ pay was set at $15 per hour, the same as in 2013.
Jo-Anna Donahue will continue as township secretary-treasurer, open records officer, pension plan administrator, webmaster and secretary of the planning commission at a rate of $18.73 per hour.
Shelli Whitmer will return as solicitor at an hourly rate of $125.
The treasurer’s bond was set at $1.4 million.
The board will continue to hold its monthly public meetings at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of the month at the municipal building on Route 739.
Other appointees for 2014 included Charles Rosemergy, chief of maintenance, $18.22 per hour; Levi Travis II, zoning and code enforcement officer, $16 per hour; Tim Blaine, building code official, $24.16 per hour; Glenn Martin, sewage enforcement officer, $22 per hour not to exceed eight hours per week, plus all collected sewage fees minus $5 per permit to be paid to the township for administrative costs; and Jeanine Tenzi, tax collector at a commission rate of 5% of township real estate taxes collected and a commission rate of 3% for fire and ambulance taxes collected.
The board also set the 2014 millage rate at 4.3. A mill is a $1 tax on every $1,000 of assessed property value. The rate is the same as it was in 2013.
